Curriculum Intent
Curriculum Aim
Our curriculum is designed to grow curious, knowledgeable and happy lifelong learners. We aim to offer a rich and ambitious curriculum which provides each unique individual the skills and knowledge they need to flourish as members of society.
Curriculum Intent
At Tattershall Primary School the curriculum is designed around our belief that each child is unique and should be empowered to be a confident, resilient, independent and curious life-long learner. The curriculum has been designed around a core set of progressive knowledge and skills, which are planned and adapted intelligently so that the sequence enables children to know and remember more across learning journeys. Our school values of teamwork, honesty, forgiveness, kindness and respect are woven through our academic and wider curriculum to enable children to become responsible citizens in the world we share.
It is our intention that opportunities are endless for each pupil, particularly ensuring any barriers to success are overcome for any disadvantaged or vulnerable pupil. The delivery and design of our curriculum is planned to ensure a seamless transition between year groups and key stages, including readiness for their next stage of education.
As a staff team we are relentless in ensuring we offer the highest quality of education for our pupils. To this end, we continuously reflect upon and develop the pedagogy underpinning our curriculum. As a result, we aim to shape a bespoke curriculum offer for our pupils.
Embedding our Values
Our curriculum teaches our values as part of the learning planned across the whole curriculum. As an example, RESPECT is taught in PE lessons, when children compete against each other, in Music where children rehearse and perform together, in Religious Education and PHSE when children learn about beliefs and relationships and in Geography where an understanding of cultures from around the world are explored. Our curriculum seeks to embed these values into the lives of our children.
Our values our thoroughly embedded in our curriculum and we are proud of the positive learning environment we have established in which our children are secure in their understanding of routines, expectations of behaviour and the value of effective communication and social interactions on their own and each other’s emotional and social wellbeing.
Believe, Achieve, Succeed
As a school family, we BELIEVE all our children are ambitious and inspired for the person they can become and as we BELIEVE in the children we also aspire to help them BELIEVE in themselves. We value all our children as individuals and provide them with opportunities to grow and excel. We help them develop a positive attitude, mindset and self-esteem. We challenge and support. We are inclusive and diverse.
We prepare our children for secondary school by teaching them the knowledge and skills for them to ACHIEVE their very best in everything they do as they learn to understand how to be responsible, respectful, active citizens who contribute positively to society. Our curriculum is broad and balanced so that our children gain experience of a wide range of subjects and are inspired by significant individuals across the curriculum such as musicians, artists, scientists, historians and engineers. Our curriculum is planned to enable every child to make progress across all subject areas.
Our children SUCCEED on their learning journey with us by knowing and remembering more and developing their skills. They understand and practice our values. They display positive attitudes to learning and are safe while succeeding at achieving meaningful outcomes linked to their needs.
